Membership Agreement

This agreement outlines your rights and responsibilities as a holder of a community member share in Curbside Farms and the obligations that Curbside Farms has to you.
Community Member Rights
As a member of Curbside I am entitled to:
- Participate in Curbside’s operations and governance;
- Cast one vote in elections at all general meetings and receive fair notice of meetings;
- Serve on committees and run for a position on the board of directors;
- Raise issues or concerns relating to Curbside with its board and with other members;
- Receive information about the Curbside’s financial status and other important processes or decisions (e.g. resolutions);
- Access the products and services of Curbside;
Community Member Responsibilities
As a member of Curbside I am responsible for making a genuine effort to:
- Participate in the governance of Curbside by attending general meetings, voting on decisions, asking questions, and participating on boards and committees;
- Consider allowing other members to maintain garden plots on the space between the sidewalk and the street in front of my property, if applicable;
- Adhere to Curbside’s policies and procedures as set out in the organizational documents and created by the board;
- Support Curbside’s operations by paying membership fees and by using or contributing to its services (e.g., purchasing garden beds and attending or facilitating workshops), within reason;
- Participate in community-building activities such as in-person events and online platforms;
- Treat other members with respect;
- Support Curbside’s mission, vision, and goals;
- Stay informed about Curbside’s operations and organizational capacity by, at a minimum, reading the annual review/report;
Obligations of Curbside to Community Members
I understand that Curbside is obligated to:
- Provide me with notice of meetings and keep me informed about ways that I can participate in the cooperative;
- Maintain a transparent and efficient system of decision-making that is inclusive of the membership and supportive of the mission and vision of the cooperative;
- Conduct business, through the board and/or staff, that is in the best interest of the cooperative and its members;
- Use any financial contributions I make in an effective, responsible, and transparent manner;
- Allow me to redeem my membership share in exchange for its original dollar value in the event that I leave the cooperative.

Membership Dues
As a member of the co-operative, you are a co-owner who shares in the equity of the co-operative and you are legally required to purchase a share in order to become a member. If you ever leave the co-operative, you will receive your money back. Once you agree to pay you will receive provisional membership in the co-operative for 30 days and full membership upon receipt of your payment.
Member share; to own your portion of the co-op (only once): $10.00
